We’re excited to announce that we’ve raised $14.5mil, led by Accel Partners, with participation from our earlier investors Blumberg Capital, Lerer Hippeau, Ubiquity Ventures, Differential Ventures, F2, and Bessemer Venture Partners. With this new funding, we are planning great things for our company, our users, and the broader data engineering community.
We want companies to trust their data
For most companies, data today is still a largely untapped resource. The data engineers who manage the pipelines that power data products are critical to unlocking that resource. That’s why they are in more demand than any other tech role today.
But data engineers face a unique set of challenges. Unlike software applications, with data products it’s harder to know when things are going wrong. If an application is down, you know right away – at least as a user. Opening a webpage and seeing a big 404 error is a good signal something is not working right.
The common problem we’re solving
With data products on the other hand, like analytical dashboards or machine learning models, it’s harder to know if the system is working properly and data is correct. When data is smaller, your intuition can help if you are intimately familiar with the data. But for enterprises dealing with large volumes of data, big teams, and a wide array of products, it’s much more challenging.
Even when the problem is clear, like a data set never getting delivered to a database, tracing where the issue originated is a nightmare. Digging through logs in 10 different systems can be an endless loop of banging your head against the wall.
We know what it’s like to get woken up at 2:00am because a data product is failing. With Databand, we want our users to sleep easier knowing our platform is there to help.
What we’ve done so far
We built our product to do just that. It’s exciting to see the excitement of our users, who for the first time are able to consolidate metrics from parts of their infrastructure that have always been very disconnected, and get that information in the right context that makes it easy to monitor and understand. Databand is in current use by some of the most advanced data teams, used across machine learning workflows and big data pipelines.
Why we raised the funds and what we aim to do
We raised capital to accelerate our product development and bring our solution to the wider market. The demand out there is only growing, our product roadmap is extensive, and our backlog is heavy with exciting features that our clients are clamoring for. We need product managers, UX leaders, and engineers to deliver those experiences.
On the business side, we are hiring the foundational team behind our go to market activities, including marketing professionals, solution architects, sales engineers, and account executives. We have a lot planned ahead and can’t wait to share it with the data engineering community!
